Holly Village favourites

Image
the architecture of the building is very gothic, you cannot see what is past the archway, which makes me feel curious. the lighting in this image Is artificial and coming from the right side, this doesn't seem like London  this photo helps to give an idea of how old the building is, there's discoloured stone and solid metal gates, this seems like some sort of fortress and it definitely seems like they don't want anybody to enter. the focal point of this image is the moon, which then leads to the part of the building that's revealed by the light. the patterns on the building are weird and make it feel like it's from a completely different time.

set 3- Holly Village

Image
this photo makes me feel curious and cautious at the same time because so little is revealed, this is created by the shadows in the image. it reminds me of a church at night, which is hopefully empty  this photo is underexposed but also seems creepy because you can't fully tell if anyone anything is looking at you  I like the outline of the building on the left side, the lighting in this photo is artificial and natural from the full moon, this makes me think of werewolves the lighting in the photo is artificial and coming from the top, due to the light not being very strong you can only see part of the door, which is old and well built. it seems like it could be to keep people out or something in

Set 2 favourite

Image
This photo is my favourite from this set because it makes me feel creeped and fearful, which is surprising because it's my house. the lighting in this photo is artificial and is placed behind the subject allowing the shadow to be projected on to the shower curtain. the grain that I added afterward adds to the creepy atmosphere. the focal point of the image is the shadow of the figure, which is helped by the use of vignette because it directs your eye towards the centre of the photo and adds to the suspense.

set 2- bathroom

Image
I think that these two are definitely creepy but are too obvious  I like that it's hard to tell there's a person behind the shower curtain This photo makes me feel intimidated and scared due to the arm being flared out, this make it seem like the person behind is aggressive. the mirror reveals what isn't in the frame and without it this photo would seem normal, the light is artificial

intentions

for the next few sets of photos I wanted to surprise and creep people out by turning something familiar and revealing a completely different side to it. I wanted to show how most things in the dark are scarier as well

First set- Bedroom

Image
this photo makes me think of when I was younger and I would try to go to sleep but every now and again I would open my eyes whenever I would hear a noise. this photo makes me feel like something is in my wardrobe due to the strange light, due to it being a greenish colour it also make me think that's its something alien. the light in this photo is artificial and is coming from the wardrobe. it makes me feel like something is watching me and makes me want to turn the lights on or maybe even go to sleep in the living room this photo also makes me think about lockdown and how some poeple are feeling much more lazy and are in their bed a lot more often. I prefer the colour red cause it makes me feel more like im in danger this photo makes me think that there's something that shouldn't be in my Locker/storage  due to red light creeping out of the gaps. it also gives me the idea that this thing wants to come out Favourites, that I will enlarge

Manuel Alvarez Bravo (1902-2002) is a Latin American photographer who had an interest in the work of Edward Weston and Tina Modotti, Bravo worked with the artists of Mexico’s avant-garde such as Frida Khalo. The focal point of this image is the water on the floor, which immediately gives me the impression that the woman’s water has broken, in combination with the title “Threshold,” this makes me infer that Bravo wanted to show pain and make the audience feel sympathetic. The idea of pain is emphasised through the very angular position of her feet, which makes it look like the person works too hard because they are alone. Bravo uses natural light in this photo since it gives the photo a colder look and makes it look dirty and unhomely. Since Bravo chose to frame the photo with just her legs in shot, this leaves no identity and makes me think Bravo wanted the photo to feel more general and show what many women have to deal with. This relates to my work because I want to show people ...
