Memory of my Grandad

Image
This location is  significant  for me because it reminds me of when  I  was in primary school and my Grandad picked my brother and  I  up  from school, i wasn't able to see my Grandad very often since he lived in Coventry, which made this moment extra special. These photos remind me of when the world seemed much simpler and safer, which is why I have edited some with photoshop to make the reflection seem like how I remember it as a child.

Man Ray & Adam Woolfitt

Image
Man Ray Portrait of Marquise Casati 1922 Man Ray, originally named Emmanuel Radnitzky. (Born 1890) He is considered the pioneer of Surrealist photography and took many photos that fell into the Avant-Garde category of artwork. Man Ray was also interested in painting and film making, which shows he has a very creative mind that hardly runs out of ideas. The portrait of Markiza Casati makes me feel intimidated due to the intensity of the stare from the model, the use of a slow shutter speed emphasises the focal point, which I think is the eyes since that’s usually what you first see when looking at a face. The framing of the photo also places the eyes in the centre of the photo and revels the upper torso of the model, which seems to be dirty suggesting that the woman could be poor. The lighting in this photo seems artificial and is hitting the Model face-on, however there is a shadow created on her left cheek which makes me feel confused and think about how little is revealed in th...

Final 4- Holly Village

Holly Village favourites

the architecture of the building is very gothic, you cannot see what is past the archway, which makes me feel curious. the lighting in this image Is artificial and coming from the right side, this doesn't seem like London  this photo helps to give an idea of how old the building is, there's discoloured stone and solid metal gates, this seems like some sort of fortress and it definitely seems like they don't want anybody to enter. the focal point of this image is the moon, which then leads to the part of the building that's revealed by the light. the patterns on the building are weird and make it feel like it's from a completely different time.

set 3- Holly Village

Image
this photo makes me feel curious and cautious at the same time because so little is revealed, this is created by the shadows in the image. it reminds me of a church at night, which is hopefully empty  this photo is underexposed but also seems creepy because you can't fully tell if anyone anything is looking at you  I like the outline of the building on the left side, the lighting in this photo is artificial and natural from the full moon, this makes me think of werewolves the lighting in the photo is artificial and coming from the top, due to the light not being very strong you can only see part of the door, which is old and well built. it seems like it could be to keep people out or something in

Set 2 favourite

This photo is my favourite from this set because it makes me feel creeped and fearful, which is surprising because it's my house. the lighting in this photo is artificial and is placed behind the subject allowing the shadow to be projected on to the shower curtain. the grain that I added afterward adds to the creepy atmosphere. the focal point of the image is the shadow of the figure, which is helped by the use of vignette because it directs your eye towards the centre of the photo and adds to the suspense.
